Former NFL MVP and CBS Sports Analyst Matt Ryan has been appointed President of Football for the Atlanta Falcons, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. Ryan, who played for the team for 14 seasons, is set to oversee all football operations, reporting directly to Owner and Chairman Arthur M. Blank and collaborating with President and CEO Greg Beadles. This appointment comes as the Falcons seek new leadership in the form of a head coach and general manager, both of whom will report to Ryan.
Blank praised Ryan's exceptional leadership, attention to detail, and deep understanding of the game, highlighting his remarkable 14-year career in Atlanta. Ryan's success is underscored by his impressive statistics, including franchise records for passing yards, attempts, completions, touchdowns, and passer rating. He led the Falcons to the postseason five times, two NFC Championship Games, and one Super Bowl appearance.
Ryan's transition to the role of President of Football is a natural progression, given his extensive experience as a player and analyst. After his 15-year playing career, he honed his analytical skills as a game and studio analyst for CBS over the past three years, working alongside renowned personalities like Andrew Catalon, Tiki Barber, and A.J. Ross. This diverse background has equipped Ryan with a comprehensive understanding of the NFL and the inner workings of successful organizations.
